Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 3 July 2026
1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs your use of Sonara’s Service. It is incorporated into the Terms of Service. Because Sonara provides outreach and research tools, using it responsibly and lawfully is essential — both for your compliance and to protect the deliverability and reputation of the platform for all customers.
2. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for the content you send, the contacts you upload, and your compliance with all applicable laws — including the GDPR, the ePrivacy Directive, the Norwegian Marketing Control Act, and, where relevant, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, and equivalent laws in your recipients’ jurisdictions. You represent that you have a lawful basis to process and contact each person you load into the Service.
3. Prohibited content and activity
You must not use the Service to:
- send unlawful, deceptive, fraudulent, harassing, defamatory, or misleading content;
- promote illegal goods or services, hate, violence, or discrimination;
- distribute malware, phishing, or other harmful code or links;
- infringe intellectual-property or privacy rights;
- impersonate any person or organisation, or misrepresent your identity or affiliation;
- send to purchased, rented, or scraped lists of individuals without a lawful basis and required consent.
4. Outreach and anti-spam
- Only contact people where you have a lawful basis (e.g. legitimate interest for relevant B2B outreach, or consent where required).
- Include accurate sender identification and a clear, working way to opt out in every message; honour opt-outs promptly and permanently.
- Do not disable, bypass, or tamper with unsubscribe handling, sending caps, or deliverability guardrails.
- Keep bounce and complaint rates low; Sonara may throttle or pause sending that risks platform deliverability.
5. SMS, WhatsApp and calling
SMS, WhatsApp, and telephone outreach require prior consent from the recipient in most jurisdictions and are subject to the rules of the relevant carriers and platforms (including WhatsApp’s Business Policy). You are responsible for obtaining and recording that consent, honouring opt-out keywords (e.g. STOP), and respecting quiet hours and do-not-call rules.
6. LinkedIn and third-party platforms
Sonara’s LinkedIn features are designed to assist, not automate — drafts are prepared for a human to review and send. You must comply with LinkedIn’s and any other third-party platform’s terms when acting on their sites, and you must not use Sonara to perform automated actions that those platforms prohibit.
7. Data enrichment and research
Enrichment and research features look up publicly available business information about companies. You must use them for legitimate B2B purposes only, apply data-minimisation, maintain a lawful basis for processing any personal data returned, and honour objection and erasure requests. Do not use these features to build or sell bulk personal-data profiles, to stalk or harass individuals, or in a way that violates a source’s terms or applicable law.
8. Fair use and volume
The Service is subject to fair-use and plan limits. You must not circumvent usage limits, share accounts to exceed them, or place automated load on the Service beyond normal use. Sonara may apply rate limits to protect the platform.
9. Security
You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other customers’ data, or underlying systems; probe or scan for vulnerabilities without authorisation; or interfere with the Service’s integrity or performance. Report vulnerabilities responsibly to the contact below.
10. Enforcement
Violations may result in warning, throttling, suspension, or termination of the Service, and — where required — reporting to authorities. Sonara may act immediately where a violation risks legal exposure, security, or platform deliverability.
11. Reporting abuse
Report suspected abuse or security issues to fabian@sonara-media.com.
12. Changes
We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to customers, and continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
This policy is provided as a starting point and should be reviewed by qualified legal counsel before being relied upon. It does not constitute legal advice.
